This last Saturday we spent the day ripping around the Indian Creek Nature Center on fat bikes for the first (annual?!) Go Cr Fat Sac & Fox Enduro! All our friends from the neighborhood and over a hundred fat bikes hit the starting line for a 3 hour endurance race that traversed about 4 miles of snow covered single track, mowed prairie, and frozen gravel trail.
All the event sponsors and local shops were setup on the sidelines offering fat bike demos and emergency repair. There was a real sense of community and camaraderie in the air. I suppose riding bikes in the snow with all your friends will to do that 🙂
READY. SET. GO! Over 120 women, men, and 3-person teams taking on the 3 hour grind.
The starting line mass rolling out and eventually breaking up as we made our way to the single track.
…and then it started snowing! We seriously couldn’t of asked for better conditions out there.
The new Indian Creek Nature Center made for the ideal stage, and their awesome staff helped orchestrate course preparation, on-site registration, and even poured free beer for riders!
All the local shops brought out the latest and greatest fat bike models for people to test ride.
Paul from LAMBA posted up a pit stop on the back half of the course that treated riders to bacon and whiskey handups! Bless your heart, Paul.
Grab that wheel, Eric!
We concluded the day with awards and an epic cowbell serenade by the race champs! Props to all the volunteers, sponsors, and participants that made this event so awesome. We’re already looking forward making it happen again next year!
